I'm pleased to introduce Dr. Rajdeep Deka, who has joined FiberX as our Director of Biorefinery Technology and Processes. A biorefinery is the plant-based cousin of an oil refinery: instead of cracking crude oil into fuels and chemicals, it takes the woody, fibrous parts of plants and separates them into the building blocks for materials we use every day. Rajdeep will lead development of the processes that turn agricultural and forestry residues — corn stalks left after harvest, wheat straw, sugarcane bagasse, wood chips, sawmill trimmings, and more — into resins, foams, adhesives, and other bio-based chemical feedstocks that American manufacturers can put to work.

FiberX Adds Purdue Biorefinery Expert Rajdeep Deka, PhD to Lead Process Development

When someone invests in an eligible early-stage Indiana company, the state hands them a credit against their Indiana taxes worth 25% of what they put in. Not a deduction — a credit, dollar for dollar off what they owe. For woman- and minority-owned businesses, it runs up to 30%. It's the state saying out loud that it wants private capital flowing to the companies growing jobs, industry, and new markets right here at home.

Indiana Backs the People Building Here. We’re Grateful — and Our Investors Can Benefit.

FiberX added its name to a letter sent to Congress by more than a hundred companies, farm groups, and trade associations asking members to cosponsor H.R. 8137, the Biobased Materials Investment and Production Act.

Why We Signed On: FiberX Supports H.R. 8137

At FiberX, corn stover is the raw material for a new generation of industrial feedstocks. We're processing it into high-performance fiber that can replace up to 50% of petroleum-based polypropylene in plastic components — while actually increasing strength and reducing costs for manufacturers. And that's just the beginning. Our lignin biorefinery platform, developed in partnership with Purdue University's Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, is unlocking an even bigger opportunity: bio-based resins, coatings, adhesives, and specialty chemicals derived from what used to be left on the ground. In the podcast, I talk through how this whole thing started, what it takes to build a supply chain from scratch in the middle of farm country, and why I believe FiberX is sitting at the beginning of something genuinely big — a new industry for Indiana.
