FiberX Named Finalist for 2026 Mira Award in AgBioscience Innovation

MERRILLVILLE, IN – We’re proud to announce that FiberX has been named a finalist for the 2026 Mira Awards in the AgriNovus Indiana AgBioscience Innovation category. This recognition from TechPoint validates what we’ve believed from day one: Indiana agriculture and industrial innovation belong together.

About the Mira Awards
For those unfamiliar, the Mira Awards are Indiana’s premier technology awards program, organized by TechPoint. Each year, they recognize individuals and companies driving innovation across the state’s tech ecosystem. The AgriNovus Indiana AgBioscience Innovation category specifically honors companies advancing agriculture and bioscience through technology and innovation.

Being named a finalist puts FiberX alongside some of Indiana’s most innovative companies—organizations pushing boundaries and proving that breakthrough solutions can come from the Heartland.

What This Recognition Means
This nomination reflects more than just FiberX’s progress. It represents a shift in how we think about agricultural residues and sustainable materials. For too long, the conversation around sustainability has been heavy on promise and light on performance. We’re taking a different approach.

At FiberX, we’re not asking manufacturers to compromise. We’re not selling them on feeling good about sustainability. We’re proving that materials derived from corn stover can outperform petroleum-based alternatives while reducing costs. When our biocomposite plastics make products twice as strong while replacing up to 50% of synthetic polymers, that’s not just sustainable—that’s smart business.

Building Together
This nomination belongs to more than just FiberX. It belongs to:

  • Our farmer partners who see the potential of post-harvest agricultural residue. They’re not just selling us stover; they’re helping build a new cash crop while improving their soil management practices.
  • The Purdue University research team who developed the innovative lignin extraction technology we’re now commercializing. Their scientific rigor and commitment to practical applications make them ideal collaborators.
  • Our manufacturing customers who are willing to test new materials and push boundaries. Their feedback drives our innovation, and their commitment to performance keeps us honest.
  • The FiberX team who show up every day to solve hard problems. From our processing facility to our lab to our customer conversations, this is a group that knows how to get things done.
  • Our investors and supporters including Jacaranda Partners, Purdue University Innovation Ventures, and Elevate Ventures, who believed in this vision when it was still early-stage.

Why Indiana, Why Now
Indiana is uniquely positioned for this work. We’re the fifth-largest corn-producing state, with record yields creating abundant stover supply. We have world-class research institutions, a manufacturing heritage, and a workforce that understands both agriculture and industry. Our location in the Crossroads of America means logistics are straightforward and cost-effective.

But it’s more than geography and infrastructure. There’s something about the Midwestern approach that fits this work—practical, no-nonsense, focused on results over rhetoric. We’re not here to make grand pronouncements about saving the planet (even though we love a “clean home”!). We’re here to build a profitable business that happens to be better for the environment because it makes economic sense.

Looking Forward
Being named a Mira Award finalist is an honor, but it’s not the goal. The goal is to scale this operation, to put more Indiana farmers in a position to benefit from stover harvest, to give manufacturers better material options, and to prove that sustainable chemistry can compete and win in the marketplace.

We’re in the early innings. Our fiber applications are reaching commercial scale. Our lignin platform is advancing toward pilot production. Our customer pipeline is growing. There’s hard work ahead, but that’s exactly what we signed up for.

Congratulations to All Finalists
We want to extend congratulations to all the finalists across every Mira Award category. The innovation happening across Indiana’s tech community is impressive, and it’s an honor to be recognized alongside so many talented teams and individuals.
